Discovering Quality Accommodation in Sofia, Bulgaria
As full-time travelers dedicated to showcasing how you can live a more abundant life by traveling abroad, we recently had the pleasure of returning to Sofia, Bulgaria. This vibrant European city not only offers affordable accommodation but also boasts high-speed internet—ingredients essential for digital nomads and remote workers. We booked our stay on Flatio.com, and once again, it proved to be a fantastic experience. Just like our time in Portugal, this accommodation platform continues to impress us.
In this review, we will explore our recent stay in Sofia, Bulgaria, evaluating its various features and assessing whether this choice aligns with the needs of remote workers and travelers alike.

Apartment Features & Amenities
Spacious Entryway & Storage
Upon entering, the apartment welcomes you with a generous hallway. This space provides ample storage solutions, including drawers and hangers for your belongings. The bright and airy environment sets a positive tone right from the start.

In-Unit Laundry & Cleaning Supplies
A significant perk of this apartment is the in-unit washer, complete with detergent provided. For travelers on extended stays, this is invaluable. An iron is also available, adding to the convenience.

Bathroom
The bathroom is functional but compact. Featuring a wet room style shower, it might get a little splashy during use. One point of caution is the small sink—ideal for quick trips but not much room for toiletries. Also, be mindful of the hot water heater switch, which isn’t always marked clearly.

Living Area, Kitchen & Workspace
Living Space Comfort

The living area features a cozy sofa and a large 4K Smart TV, a luxury for us during our travels. Radiant heating keeps the space warm, though air conditioning is absent, which could be a drawback in summer.
Well-Equipped Kitchen
The kitchen is surprisingly well-stocked, with a three-burner stove, plenty of pans, a dishwasher, and a compact refrigerator. It’s ideal for those looking to cook their own meals over a longer stay. You’ll find sufficient storage and utensils, making it easy to prepare meals.

Workspaces (or Lack Thereof)
One downside is the absence of a dedicated workspace. We adapted by using the kitchen table and improvising setups in the bedroom. This may be a limitation for those needing a consistent working environment, but it can be managed with some creativity.

Location, Transportation & Neighborhood
Central Location & Walkability
Located just a five-minute walk from Vitosha Boulevard, the apartment offers easy access to shops, restaurants, and cultural landmarks like the National Palace of Culture, a 15-minute stroll away. The area buzzes with life, making it a desirable choice for many.

Public Transportation Accessibility
Getting around is simple, with metro stations, buses, and trams all within a short walk. This accessibility eases exploration of Sofia’s many attractions.

Local Amenities
The neighborhood is rich with local markets and eateries. From quick bites like kebabs to sit-down meals, there’s no shortage of options right outside your door.
Internet Speed & Booking Experience
High-Speed Internet
The apartment has impressive internet speeds. We clocked over 200 Mbps for both download and upload, sufficient for video calls and large file uploads. This will cater to digital nomads or anyone needing reliable connectivity.

Flatio.com Booking Process
Booking through Flatio.com was straightforward. The process required a contract with the landlord, which is different from platforms like Airbnb. A unique feature is the 30-day cancellation policy, which protects renters against sudden changes.
Potential Snag & Resolution
Initially, we faced a potential last minute cancellation from the landlord. However, Flatio.com intervened, resulting in a positive resolution. This gives confidence in their support and structure.
Conclusion
The Sofia apartment offers many conveniences, from its central location to its ample amenities. While it has drawbacks, like the lack of air conditioning and designated workspace, the benefits often outweigh them.
This apartment suits digital nomads, slow travelers, and those looking for budget-friendly options. If you’re interested in checking out Flatio.com, using our affiliate link helps support our adventures at no extra cost to you.
Overall, our experience with Flatio.com was positive, and we recommend this apartment for travelers who prioritize comfort and convenience in Sofia.
