Is Southwest Airlines Flying to Europe Now?

By Joel Hartz
Can You Fly to Europe on Southwest Airlines?
Southwest Airlines has announced its official expansion into Europe, marking a significant milestone for the carrier! Beginning in February 2025, the airline is offering connections through a new joint commercial agreement with Icelandair. The inaugural flights started from Baltimore, MD (BWI) to Reykjavik, Iceland, with specific details on the launch date coming soon.
Is This the Beginning of A new Era?
This collaboration opens up a world of travel opportunities, as passengers can connect from Reykjavik to various European destinations, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Dublin, Paris, and Prague. One of the most convenient features of this partnership is that travelers will be able to check their luggage through to their final destination, ensuring a seamless journey.
Following the launch from Baltimore, Southwest has plans to extend this connection program to Denver International Airport and Nashville International Airport (our hometown), making it easier for even more travelers to reach Europe. For instance, you can fly to Baltimore with Southwest and then easily transfer to Icelandair for your European adventure—all on a single itinerary.
Icelandair offers an attractive stopover program, allowing travelers the chance to explore Iceland for up to a week without any extra fare. This is a fantastic way to enjoy two amazing destinations!

How to Book a Flight to Europe
According to Southwest Airlines support you must book your flights on Icelandair’s website to take advantage of this at the moment.
“Our first interline partner carrier is Icelandair, and Customers can book and partner itineraries are available to book on Icelandair’s website and channels. Eventually, we will also offer booking on Southwest.com.”
Keep your eyes peeled for updates on this expansion as it unfolds! Perhaps it can aid your travel plans this coming year. Would you consider this option for your travels?
