My Experience with Airalo

We tested Airalo while traveling through the U.S., Netherlands, Ireland, Greece, Korea, and Thailand. We enjoyed seamless connectivity, consistent speeds, and the ability to navigate without worrying about roaming charges.

Great Connectivity & Speeds

We had seamless data access which meant we could navigate each location, check emails, get a rideshare, check exchange rates and stay connected with loved ones back in the United States.

So let’s talk speed. We have found that overall eSIM speeds can vary a lot depending on the eSIM provider and local network. Airalo was actually pretty consistent in all the countries we used Airalo and did not have any connection issues. 

For instance it was great having data when roaming around Corfu Town in Corfu, Greece. We were able to search google maps to find and navigate to a hidden café we discovered our first time in Corfu Town, with no roaming charges and no need to be connected to a public Wi-Fi!

The setup process was straightforward: Download the Airalo app,  sign-up, purchase an eSIM and install.

No waiting around— I just scanned the QR code and it installed on my phone. Within minutes, I had data access without having to pay for an international data roaming plan or wait in line to purchase and install a local physical SIM card. f you are having trouble with the install or prefer to manually install it, there are instructions provided as well.

Airalo offers two payment methods, Credit Card or using “Aircoins”, their platform currency, which you can purchase ahead of time. You can also earn Aircoins with their loyalty program.

Personally, I like to set up payment with my Credit Card in the app so that I can quickly top up my data when needed. Speaking of top ups, with Airalo you can easily top up your data when it gets low so you don’t find yourself without data when you need it. 

Another huge perk is that you can purchase and install your eSIM anytime. You can simply activate your eSIM by turning it on when you first arrive at your destination. Once your eSIM connects to the network the eSIM activates and your plan begins.
